Hi there! The winter is a fun time to visit because we now have Thunder basketball, the Devon ice rink, and snow tubing at the Bricktown ballpark. All these activities are fun and the crowds are still manageable due to weather. I would suggest coming in the spring so you can easily take in Bricktown by foot and see all the areas of interest without freezing. The beauty of OKC is it gaining that larger metro feel without the drama of crazy traffic and high crime in the tourist areas. The area is safe and accessible. In the Spring/Summer you can take in the Botanical Gardens, a Baseball game, River Taxi, Red Pin Boutique Bowling Alley, Bass Pro Shops Summer Series of exhibitions outside of the store, Music Festivals, and now there is actually some premier restaurants and shopping. You can see my review on In The Raw sushi. I reviewed the Norman local but the one right by Harkins Theater and Red Pin is fabulous as well. You could treat yourself and stay at The Colcord or our resurrected Skirvin (my parents saw Elvis there back in the day) which is a breathtaking re-birth of one of the city's original grand hotels. I would vote spring/summer and if you need to avoid crowds just plan on visiting during the weekdays. Although the fun activities are usually Fri-Sun. There is nothing wrong about being frugal! Soaps and shampoos all go down the drain! Why spend extra $$$ when it all does the same thing.
